About Alfond Youth & Community Center

AYCC is a leading nonprofit organization located in Waterville, Maine, serving as the only merged Boys & Girls Club and YMCA in the United States. AYCC supports nearly 9,000 members across more than 50 communities in Central Maine. AYCC’s 85,000-square-foot facility offers a wide range of programs and services, including licensed and accredited childcare and after-school programs, fitness and wellness classes, athletic programs, aquatics instruction, and nutrition support. The organization also operates Camp Tracy, a 32-acre day and overnight camp providing outdoor education and recreational activities and maintains specialized spaces such as replica Major League Baseball fields. Augusta, the state capital, is about 23 miles south via I-95. The Opportunity

The Alfond Youth Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization with an inspiring vision for a thriving, sustainable future. The CEO will oversee the total operation, framework, budget, and policies established by the board, while ensuring the organization’s mission and principles are upheld. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of experience as an Executive Director or similar role and a strong background in education, counseling, personnel management, business administration, marketing, philanthropy, and public relations. The CEO will be responsible for strategic planning, staff development, financial management, community relations, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national standards and regulations. Ability to develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with the organization’s mission and vision. Experience overseeing total operations, framework, budget, and policies established by the board. Alignment with AYCC’s mission, culture, and values, and the ability to build on its legacy. Capacity to think critically and make informed decisions that drive growth and development. Community Engagement and Relations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with staff, community members, and stakeholders. Ability to foster a community-focused culture that promotes collaboration, inclusivity, and social responsibility. Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and government agencies. Strong public relations skills to effectively represent the organization and promote its mission. Fundraising and Development

Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders. Innovative in identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities and sources of revenue. Experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies. Able to communicate AYCC’s mission, vision, and impact to secure support. Operational Management

Knowledge of facility operations and maintenance to ensure efficient use of resources. Experience in managing budgets, finances, and personnel to achieve organizational goals. Ability to ensure compliance with local, state, and national standards and regulations. Strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges and opportunities in a rapidly changing environment. Transformational Leadership

Passion for strengthening youth, families, and the broader community through innovative programming and services. Ability to inspire and motivate staff to work towards a common goal of making a lasting impact on the organization and community. Experience in developing and implementing programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Strong adaptability and resilience to lead the organization through periods of growth, change, and uncertainty. Education

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., BGCA Executive Leadership School, YMCA Organizational Leader Certification) strongly preferred. A minimum of 5–10 years of successful leadership experience in a nonprofit, youth-focused, or community service organization. Experience managing multifaceted operations, including facilities, personnel, compliance, and partnerships. Compensation & Benefits

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $225,000 with a generous benefits package. Contact
