Position: Subject Matter Expert | Nuclear Energy Subject Matter Expert (SME) [DNE007] – Engagement Team | Subject Matter Expert I (Labor Category - HIGH LEVEL, Non-Exempt) aligned under NAICS 541611. Location: CONUS - Washington, DC Metro Area or Telework (Remote) as Authorized. We seek candidates with relevant Nuclear and Environmental Management Sector experience (functional and technical expertise also ideal) to support professional services engagements for Nuclear and Environmental Management Sector Clients such as the DOE. Primary activities serve a branch of the DOE responsible for overseeing various nuclear-related activities, focusing on managing and supporting operations related to nuclear energy, research, and environmental management. This is a Contract Contingent or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) position. ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a full-time ProSidian employed W-2 position. This role aligns with functional/technical service requirements and client engagements in the Nuclear and Environmental Management sector: Energy, Infrastructure, and Environment (EIE) – Tailored Solutions to Meet Global Needs. Job Overview Provide Nuclear Energy SME support in the Nuclear and Environmental Management Industry Sector, focusing on Engineering Solutions for clients such as the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE | NE) and Idaho Operations Office, with potential for remote work and regional involvement. Responsibilities and Duties
Seeking a highly qualified Nuclear Energy SME to represent the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy (DOE/NE) regarding the AC-100M Centrifuge Development and Licensing. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in nuclear energy technologies, specifically in the development, demonstration, and operations of the AC-100M centrifuge. Primary responsibilities include providing independent technical reviews in centrifuge design, manufacture, installation, operation, maintenance, and Balance of Plant support systems and deployment. Key Responsibilities
Conduct independent technical reviews in centrifuge design, manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance. Provide expertise in Balance of Plant support systems and deployment. Collaborate with DOE to assess reports and presentations related to centrifuge development and licensing. Support DOE in the evaluation of enrichment capability deployment projects. Ensure compliance with program schedules, cost containment, and performance metrics. Assist in the hiring and retention of key personnel for project execution. Mitigate risks associated with project implementation. Provide services under a performance-based service acquisition contract. Core Support Functions
Provide support through steady state operations with emphasis on cascade performance, maintenance activities and parts replacement as needed. Perform functional assessments of Centrus’ compliance to regulatory criteria of Lessee Requirements Documents within lease agreements. Perform independent evaluations, readiness reviews, assessments, walk-downs, and field inspections at Centrus facilities (Piketon, OH). Support coordination with DOE, co-located DOE contractors, site personnel, and NRC when appropriate. Develop analyses, technical assessments, and white papers to support DOE/NE decisions. Review and develop analyses of reports, assessments, and cost documentation related to uranium enrichment technologies. Analyze DOE requirements involving MOAs/MOUs related to DOE lessees, contractors, and NRC activities. Analyze security and facility access programs, including readiness reviews and field inspections. Provide SME, project management, engineering, and technical assistance to NEHQ for planning, execution, and deployment of domestic uranium enrichment capabilities. Attend and provide review of Centrus deployment and operation status reports and presentations. Qualifications
Education / Experience Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). Minimum of 5 years in nuclear energy technology development and operations. In-depth knowledge of AC-100M centrifuge development and licensing. Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred. Strong project management skills and ability to meet program schedules and performance metrics. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with DOE regulations related to nuclear energy projects. Skills Excellent oral and written communication. Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe, data analytics tools, and Visio.
