Craft and maintain detailed architectural and design artifacts to effectively communicate technology advancements.
Manage current, future, and transitional state diagrams while developing conceptual, logical, and physical diagrams.
Review and formulate high-level design documents, guiding projects toward enterprise solutions.
Ensure that technology decisions align with the best interests of Horace Mann.
Collaborate proactively with business units, application development teams, and security to support design and development.
Serve as a trusted advisor to IT and business leadership, ensuring industry best practices are followed in all solutions.
Facilitate consensus among diverse groups for critical technical decisions.
Contribute significantly to planning, roadmap development, and program implementation.
Stay updated with evolving industry technologies, effectively communicating complex concepts to various audiences.
Lead analysts in business architecture, design, and quality assurance, focusing on efficiency and improved processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Advance the Architecture Discipline at Horace Mann, guiding and mentoring the architecture community.
Promote and utilize architecture metadata tools and processes.
Direct projects and programs toward compliant technology solutions by documenting architectural decisions.
Create or oversee the development of essential architecture artifacts for budgeting and planning of technology solutions.
Collaborate closely with Solution Delivery Partners and technical teams to maintain current and transitional architecture.
Ensure the creation of high-level design documents for systems and subsystems.
Develop IT policies and standards at the direction of the Chief Architect and CIO.
Identify opportunities for innovative enterprise building blocks and direct the architecture team in utilizing these patterns.
Lead the direction for creating integration services that connect Horace Mann applications and systems.
Guide technical leads on aligning application development with architectural best practices.
Provide critical recommendations to executive leadership spanning multiple technical domains.
Advise on best practices for evaluating and selecting technology products.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
6-9 years of related experience.
Experience with an Enterprise Architecture framework, such as TOGAF.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical writing experience is a plus.
Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in creating architectural diagrams using tools like VISIO or draw.io.
Comprehensive knowledge of project management and software development methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of development languages, data solutions, integration, infrastructure, networking, and security.
Able to lead teams effectively across all organizational levels.
Skilled in achieving consensus on complex technical issues.
Experience in risk management and executive-level presentations.
Prior experience in digital transformation initiatives.
Familiarity with customer and producer/agent business domains.
Pay Range:
