Position Summary

Metcon is a commercial general contractor that specializes in construction management, negotiation, design-build, and select hard-bid projects. A Dump Truck Driver operates a heavy-duty truck equipped with a hydraulic bed used to transport and unload materials such as dirt, gravel, or debris at construction sites or waste disposal locations. The primary responsibility is to transport and deliver materials safely and efficiently, following proper road and vehicle safety regulations. The role ensures that project goals, objectives, and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon. Typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate a dump truck to transport materials to and from construction sites.
  • Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, ensuring secure transportation and delivery.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of the dump truck to assess and address any mechanical or safety issues.
  • Adhere to all relevant traffic laws and regulations while operating the dump truck.
  • Follow instructions from the site supervisor to ensure materials are delivered to the designated location within specified timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate records of all deliveries, including mileage, hours of operation, fuel usage, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with team members to support smooth operations and assist with other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a dump truck in a construction or similar environment.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to adhere to strict safety protocols and precautions.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Training and Education

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Possession of a valid CDL is mandatory.
