Position Title: Human Resources Specialist

Organization: University of Alabama at Birmingham

Salary/Pay: $18.85 – $30.65 per hour (equivalent to $39,208 – $63,752 annually, depending on experience) • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Manager • Work Arrangement: Onsite

General Summary

Under general supervision, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for day-to-day administration of policies and programs across recruiting, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, and personnel research. This position also monitors and maintains department databases and systems, and may be responsible for Oracle data input, data integrity, and workflow approvals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administers HR policies and programs related to recruiting, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, and personnel research.
  • Monitors and maintains department-specific HR databases and systems.
  • Ensures accuracy of Oracle data entry and workflow approvals.
  • Provides HR support and assists with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Related fields include (but are not limited to): Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership or related behavioral/social sciences.
  • Experience: One (1) year of related experience required.
  • Related experience may include recruiting/talent acquisition; compensation and benefits administration; employee/labor relations; HRIS/HR database management (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, Workday); training and development coordination; generalist-level HR support in a professional setting.
