The Human Resources Coordinator will play a vital role in contributing to the mission of St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School by supporting our administrative team. We are seeking a faith-filled, detail-oriented, people-focused individual who is willing to work approximately 15-25 hours a week, including regular office hours at the school one time a week. This role supports our staff and faculty by managing and overseeing hiring, onboarding and off-boarding, benefits administration, payroll support, employee record keeping, compliance, governance, and work-place culture.
Overview
The Human Resources Specialist should be a Catholic in good standing with the Church, committed to its teachings, and able to represent the values and mission of St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School.

Qualifications
In terms of competencies, the following minimum qualifications are expected:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field(s) preferred
Experience:
- 3-5 years HR, administrative and payroll experience (education or nonprofit a plus)
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices, including confidentiality
- Experience creating standard operating protocols
- Proficiency in HR/payroll systems preferred.
Compensation
$35-55 / hour, commensurate with experience; NTE 20 hrs a week.
Key Responsibilities
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the hiring process
- Enhance and manage JPG’s process of recruiting and hiring new employees, as in compliance with all applicable laws.
- Assist with the creation of job descriptions, posting of positions, and offer letters.
- Aid with compensation studies and ensure reasonable and necessary terms in employment contracts.
- Onboarding process
- Understand and manage the standard operating protocol for onboarding new employees.
- May assist with administrative onboarding tasks such as email creation, etc.
- Work directly with payroll team to onboard new hires into the payroll system, including verifying I-9s, and accuracy of employment contract details.
- Support new hires with benefits elections and input information into benefit portals.
- Ensure new hires have support from supervisor in the transition.
- Offboarding process
- Understand and manage the standard operating protocol for offboarding employees.
- May assist with administrative offboarding tasks such as email removal, etc.
- Conduct exit interviews and other communication requirements, based on terms of dismissal.
- Work directly with payroll to ensure final payout details are accurate.
- Leave management
- Understand and manage leave policies in accordance with Employee Handbook and FAMLI program, ensuring compliance matters.
- Work directly with payroll to generate supplemental pay schedules and terms of leave.
- Support the employee before leave, during leave, and upon return to work.
- Performance management
- Support the executive team as necessary with employee review process and ensure fairness and compliance.
- Work with necessary committees and payroll to implement salary and benefit adjustments.
- Governance support
- Understand and be a primary resource for matters in the Employee Handbook and other corporate governance documents, including the Corporate Bylaws.
- Help interpret and support any conflict of interest and related party matters that may arise.
- May be invited to join the Governance Subcommittee.
