Our client is looking for a Human Resources Advisor who will be a trusted partner to leaders and employees, delivering end-to-end HR support in a shared services environment while embedded with assigned business entities. This role aligns corporate HR strategy with operational needs, bridging office and field teams in a cross-border, multi-jurisdictional environment.
This is hybrid role - 3 days in office/ 2 days remote
Base pay range
$80,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR contact for designated business groups, developing strong relationships with leaders and employees to provide timely, practical HR support.
- Provide advice on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation, ensuring fairness and legal compliance.
- Lead or support workplace investigations, maintaining confidentiality and thorough documentation throughout the process.
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, helping to identify skill gaps, succession plans, and targeted development opportunities.
- Support recruitment activities by posting roles, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and ensuring smooth onboarding for new hires.
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, ensuring prompt processing of hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements in daily operations, working with leadership to address union-related issues.
- Monitor legislative changes in both Canada and the U.S., ensuring HR practices meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with business leaders to design and implement engagement strategies that boost retention, strengthen workplace culture, and improve team performance.
- Track and analyze HR metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and recommend improvements to policies and processes.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist or advisory experience in multi-site, cross-border, or shared services settings.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. employment law.
- Experience supporting both unionized and non-union workforces.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable working in evolving environments where processes and tools are being refined.
- Willingness to travel periodically to project sites and remote locations.
