Youth Court Coordinator

USU Extension in Salt Lake County is expanding its Youth Court initiative and is seeking a Youth Court Coordinator to support and oversee the operations of weekly Youth Court hearings in four locations throughout Granite School District. The Youth Court program uses a restorative justice-based approach, where referred youth participate in hearings that are run by a panel of their peers. This program provides an alternative justice process for youth that keeps them out of the formal juvenile court system. The role of the Youth Court Coordinator involves a variety of responsibilities, including managing site-level operations, overseeing referral eligibility and scheduling, and ensuring consistent and restorative hearing practices at each court site. This leadership role will support the vision and day-to-day function of the Granite Community Youth Court by supervising site facilitators, coordinating youth referrals and case scheduling, developing curriculum and trainings, and serving as a liaison with stakeholders such as the Office of Juvenile Justice, law enforcement, school administrators, and other community members. This position will work primarily during the evening with court hours from 5pm - 8:30pm, four days per week during the school year. Detailed roles and responsibilities are provided below. Responsibilities: Oversee and support Youth Court facilitators at four court locations across Granite School District Attend and supervise weekly Youth Court hearings at each site to ensure consistency and quality Understand and apply the Utah Youth Court Diversion Act and Youth Court program policies Serve as the liaison between the Office of Juvenile Justice, Youth Court facilitators, and the USU Extension project team Coordinate referral intake and ensure youth are scheduled for court hearings Collaborate with the Office of Juvenile Justice to verify the eligibility of referred youth Facilitate monthly Youth Court facilitator team meetings to provide leadership, promote collaboration, and resolve issues Support Youth Court facilitators with recruiting, training, and managing youth court panel volunteers, advisors, and interns Identify barriers to youth and family participation and coordinate effective solutions Ensure privacy and confidentiality of all Youth Court materials and communications Maintain and analyze program data, assist with quarterly reporting to stakeholders and referral sources Coordinate the promotion of Youth Court events and educational content through schools, newsletters, and flyers Engage with school leaders, parents, students, and community stakeholders to build support for Youth Court and other school-based prevention initiatives Work closely with the USU Extension project team to align program...
