Shipping Inspector A - 2nd Shift

Description

Work Performed:

Determines by visual examination or the use of measuring instruments, the adherence to blueprints, engineering orders, specifications and sales order requirements, all types of parts, assemblies, lumber, sheet metal or any material to be inspected in the Shipping Department. Inspects such items for proper finish, cleaning, preservation, packing, stenciling, plating and compliance with Company and Government packing regulations and specifications to insure completeness and proper quality of all items to be shipped to customers. Assists in developing new inspection methods to improve and facilitate shipping inspection. Stamps or otherwise approves items acceptable for shipping and orders rejections of items failing to meet specifications. Directs the activities of lower grade Shipping Inspectors, instructs them in methods to follow and checks their work for completeness and accuracy.

Qualifications

Tools & Equipment Used:

Inspector's hand and marking tools, a variety of measuring instruments, and special testing and alignment devices.

Experience & Other Requirements:

Three years of broad inspection experience in various phases of manufacturing, a portion of such time spent in shipping inspection.
