TECHEAD is seeking a Linux System Administrator with experience in OpenShift and IT infrastructure administration for a Contract-To-Hire position.

$58.00/hr - $60.00/hr . This description retains the original job posting intent and requirements; actual pay will be based on skills and experience. Key Responsibilities Administer and monitor Linux systems, OpenShift container platform, and other IT infrastructure. Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, middleware, application software, and system management tools. Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, including inventory management, roles, and group configurations. Proactively ensure maximum system uptime, reliability, and availability. Monitor system and application performance, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with development teams to implement fixes. Maintain and enforce security standards, access controls, backup routines, and disaster recovery strategies. Automate routine or complex tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Coordinate with vendors and IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues. Respond to and resolve day-to-day tickets and service requests from development and other IT teams. Support deployments, configurations, and patching activities as needed. Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and known issues to support knowledge sharing. Participate in after-hours support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of hands-on experience in Linux administration. 2+ years working with and administering OpenShift platforms. Extensive experience installing, configuring and managing Linux servers including SLES, RHEL, and other distributions. Experience in OpenShift administration (OpenShift CLI), including understanding of architecture, containerization, and GitOps using ArgoCD. Ability to create and maintain CI/CD pipelines in OpenShift, streamlining maintenance and deployment processes. Proven experience troubleshooting Linux-based environments (analyze system logs, dumps, and other diagnostic information). In-depth understanding of Ansible and automation tooling; experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python. Experience configuring and administering web servers (Apache HTTP, NGINX, etc.). Experience with monitoring systems (Nagios, Icinga, etc.). Knowledge of virtualization concepts, VM management, virtual networking, storage virtualization, and resource pooling. Understanding of network protocols (TCP, UDP, etc.). Some data center experience or willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

12+ years of hands-on experience in Linux administration. 4+ years working with and administering OpenShift platforms. 2+ years in data center operations. Knowledge of managing container images (build, push, pull). Experience in administration of Java J2EE stacks (WebSphere, Tomcat, Open Liberty, etc.). In-depth knowledge of Linux file systems (e.g., NFS, ext3, Ceph). Experience with SUSE Manager and OpenShift Virtualization. Familiarity with IBM Storage Protect (TSM) and mainframe storage concepts.

Education

A masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
