Job Summary
Student Health Services is seeking a CAPE Survivor Advocacy Services Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Manager of Survivor Advocacy at Oregon State University is a crucial role, responsible for managing a team of advocates providing direct confidential advocacy services to students, their supporters, and members of the OSU community who have experienced any form of sexual misconduct. This individual works in collaboration with the Director of CAPE , the Manager of CAPE Prevention, and other campus partners to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the services provided by the Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Education ( CAPE ) Advocacy team. The manager is instrumental in offering support to survivors through trauma-informed care and in fostering a culture of safety and respect within the university community. This role reports directly to the CAPE Director within Student Health Services.

Key Responsibilities
15% LEADERSHIP
This position is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of internal policies and procedures within CAPE Survivor Advocacy, ensuring that advocates adhere to the requisite standards concerning confidentiality, documentation, continuous professional development and any necessary certifications as mandated by OSU , state, and federal regulations. This role encompasses the safeguarding and confidentiality of all client records and files, and the establishment of protocols to facilitate the gathering of aggregate (non-identifiable) data to fulfill reporting obligations.
Contribute to the overall department budget, stewards of the unit budget, and responsible for professional development allocation.
This position will be involved with setting strategy by developing and assessing long, and short-term objectives made in collaboration with the director to ensure alignment with the overall goals and strategic vision of Student Health Services; aimed at cultivating a survivor-centric campus environment that diminishes barriers to accessing services, educates on options to report, and aids in the healing process.
Participates in the CAPE leadership team meetings, ensuring the advocacy team's fiscal, operational, and program goals are represented. Contributes to strategic decision-making, operational planning and implementation of initiatives that advance unit goals, including integrating diversity, equity and inclusion principles into all aspects of operations and policies.
As part of the Cape management team, work closely with the director and Manager of CAPE prevention to drive unit-wide initiatives and improvements.
50% ADVOCACY
This role involves developing, enhancing, and delivering survivor-centered advocacy and support services to OSU campus community members affected by gender-based violence. It provides immediate support and resources for survivors and their allies in a confidential and safe environment, assisting them and others in understanding their reporting options. Advocacy efforts are conducted through a trauma-informed approach, with an emphasis on inclusivity and understanding the intersectionality of identities among culturally diverse, traditionally marginalized groups.
The position also entails facilitating connections for survivors to various campus or community resources, programs and services, and acting as a liaison between the survivor and multiple campus offices and external agencies. This includes the Office of Student Life, the Oregon State Police and Department of Public Safety, Counseling & Psychological Services, Office of Equal Opportunity and Access, University Housing & Dining Services, Sarah's Place, Student Health Services providers, and the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence ( CARDV ), among others.
Moreover, the role ensures the implementation of current best practices in supporting survivors through medical advocacy, criminal justice advocacy, university advocacy, and safety planning. It provides advocacy support and referrals, not only for survivors, but also for their friends, family members, and university employees, encompassing both the response and recovery process.
25% SUPERVISION
The individual in this role will be responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluation of staff members who deliver direct advocacy services, and other outreach and educational activities related to survivor response and support. This position will ensure that all advocates have completed the mandatory 40-hour campus advocacy training required by Oregon law and will develop supplementary training and curricula to maintain advocates' proficiency in best practices for advocacy resources.
Additionally, this position will conduct regular reviews and updates of training materials and evaluation protocols to align with federal and state requirements concerning these services, and trauma informed best practices, with a focus on inclusivity and acknowledging the effects of trauma on marginalized populations. This role will also establish and implement practices that address trauma stewardship.
10% COLLABORATION
The role extends beyond the immediate focus of the position, engaging in university, professional, and community service activities based on interest.
This position will work closely with healthcare providers, Sarah's Place, and other cross-campus stakeholders.
This position will partner with clinical staff on survivor services and contribute to the mission and objectives of Student Health Services and the Division of Student Affairs.
Additionally, this position will work closely with the Gender-based Violence Prevention team within CAPE to promote an integrated and developmentally appropriate continuum of education for students. This encompasses educational initiatives related to dispelling rape myths, fostering empathy, understanding consent, nurturing healthy relationships, preventing sexual violence, and responding to survivors.
What You Will Need
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, counseling, psychology, or related fields AND Three years of full-time experience in providing trauma-informed response services on a college campus or similar agency experience. OR Master's degree in a relevant field such as social work, counseling, psychology, or related fields and 2 years of full-time experience in providing trauma-informed response services on a college campus or similar agency.
At least two years of full-time experience leading or directing the work of other advocates.
Demonstrated understanding of current best practices in responding to interpersonal trauma and campus-related sexual violence.
Demonstrated ability to use clear and independent judgment, make ethical decisions regarding case management, and develop individualized approaches for each survivor.
Possess, or be willing to obtain within 3 months of hire, the required state-level certifications for campus advocacy.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with campus, community, state-wide, and national partners.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and the creation of inclusive environments at OSU .
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
