Staff Accountant II

We are looking for a motivated and dependable Staff II Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. This role is responsible for key accounting functions such as journal entries, inventory and cost accounting, account reconciliations, and the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and brings a strong understanding of financial data. Prior experience in manufacturing or cost accounting preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting Close Process

  • Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries (e.g., accruals, prepaids, reclasses).
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly (e.g., cash, A/R, A/P, accruals).
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.

Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Perform duties in line with internal controls procedures (e.g., segregation of duties, approval hierarchies).
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit trails.
  • Help identify potential weaknesses or gaps in processes with recommendations.
  • Assist in remediation of audit findings and strengthening of controls.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with inventory and cost accounting, including material, labor, and overhead analysis.
  • Prepare audit documentation and assist with external audit processes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
  • Support ad-hoc projects.

Education and Experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong time management (to meet close deadlines).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience; can be a mix of public & private accounting.
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices; GAAP a plus.
  • Experience with Fixed Asset systems (BNA or similar).
  • Experience collaborating with external auditors and tax accountants.
  • ERP systems: QuickBooks, OneStream & Tableau experience desired.
