The Disease Prevention Team in each Public Health Division (PHD) regional area is focused on prevention, testing and investigation of communicable diseases, with emphasis on HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). Each team includes Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) who serve as disease detectives, identifying persons with infection, ensuring they receive appropriate testing and treatment, and conducting partner services and disease investigation to ensure that their partners also receive timely and appropriate testing and treatment. further the departments mission to promote health and improve health outcomes by conducting partner services and disease investigation for HIV and other reportable sexually transmitted diseases (STD) to break the chain of infection and reduce disease incidence. How does it get done?

The position will be responsible for: Conduct integrated STD and HIV Partner Services (PS), including case interviews, ensuring timely testing and treatment of contacts, and provision of case management. Conduct HIV and STD screening, including phlebotomy, as appropriate to job role. Ensure linkage to care for newly diagnosed HIV cases. Handle the most complex STD cases including HIV and early syphilis by conducting partner services interviews and other disease management. Mentor and coach all DIS in the region, in partnership with and under the direction of the Disease Prevention Supervisor, to be more effective interviewers to identify a greater number of contacts to persons with STD to increase testing and treatment. Provide STD surveillance and tracking, offering testing and screening for contacts to disease and persons at high risk, and doing community outreach to populations with higher disease incidence. Coordinate and support other infectious disease activities such as harm reduction, syringe services, opiate overdose prevention education and hepatitis screening and referral. Who are the customers?

Persons at greatest risk of HIV and STD infection within the public health region. Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has experience: Two (2) years minimum working with Infectious Diseases. Two (2) or more years experience doing partner services, contact tracing, and/or disease investigation of infectious diseases such as HIV, STD, hepatitis C or COVID-19. Two (2) years minimum in STD case management, outreach, and/or education. Proficiency in multiple computer applications. Associate Degree in Public or Health Education and two (2) years of experience in health-related fields. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Background Investigation required. Working Conditions

Work in an office setting with exposure to visual/display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to lift up to forty (40) lbs. Occasional in-state travel required. Supplemental Information
