Overview

Portico Benefit Services provides a Data Engineer role within the enterprise data team to deliver modern, cloud-based solutions to enable access to data for reporting, business intelligence, and operations. The role is responsible for creating and optimizing data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection. Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Starting Pay Range

$100,000 - $140,000 Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, deploy core data views, reports, and data visualizations to provide actionable insights into business key performance indicators, operational efficiency, and other metrics using modern cloud-based architecture. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture using Agile development principles, including modern AI/ML workflows. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements, including testing and issue resolution. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and big data technologies. Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems. Coach and mentor others to build their skills for data/analytics. Understand and comply with all of Porticos Governance, Risk, and Compliance standards (e.g. internal controls, regulatory compliance, and policy compliance). Qualifications

Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases. Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets. Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management. Familiarity with PowerBI concepts to rebuild relevant core data views intended to replicate outcome in SAC. Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable big data data stores. Education

Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, or related field. Experience

5 or more years of experience in a data engineer role. Hands-on in at least two of the following: SAP, SAC, Datasphere, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Databricks/Spark, Synapse Analytics (SQL DW), or Data Lake. Building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets. Proven experience manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets. Performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement. Supporting and working in an agile team. Security background with PHI and PII a plus. Benefits Summary
