Assistant Store Manager

The Buckle, Inc. The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional high level duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Sales Generation and Guest Service: Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and provide legendary service to each Guest
Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise; assist Guests in locating merchandise
Recommend and help obtain merchandise based on Guest needs; create a wardrobe experience
Demonstrate product knowledge, share sales education with the Team, and stay knowledgeable on current promotions and policies
Maintain personal sales goals and assist Teams in achieving Buckle business goals
Provide service in the Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms and at the register
Understand exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities
Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) to accomplish goals
Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs
Develop guest relationships to build a client-based business; lead by example with showmanship and customer service
Partner with Store Manager to set sales goals and own the store’s sales performance
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, referrals and Teammate recommendations
Coach and train Teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, Loss Prevention, and sales standards
Maintain a positive floor culture and demonstrate appropriate dress and behavior
Lead daily setup, training, and performance tracking; motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks
Coach Teammates on denim showmanship and fit cards; develop department results and coordinate with leadership
Assist Store Manager in recruitment of staff and educate on pay and Buckle benefits
Ensure training and coaching with managers for non-sales positions
Visual Merchandise Management Own and influence product through zone ownership; assign zones and projects with learning goals
Execute new tools/videos related to zone ownership; review zone ownership questions
Delegate, demonstrate, and review all four zones; ensure adherence to Visual Standards
Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations to the Store Manager
Provide informative store tours and maintain appropriate display of new freight
Demonstrate ability to improve store performance via the Performance Tracker
Operations Work a flexible schedule including weekends and key shopping periods
Use planning tools and complete Opening and Closing Checklists
Monitor security risks and follow Loss Prevention guidelines
Execute POS procedures and handle corporate communications appropriately
Maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations; adhere to policies on payments, returns, and exchanges
Navigate tools on the Buckle home page; guide non-sales positions
Complete scheduled shifts and ensure a clean, organized, shoppable store
Provide feedback on merchandise handling; communicate concerns to leadership in a timely manner
Follow Buckle’s Code of Ethics and company policies
Support inventory management and store operations projects; collaborate with Corporate Office as needed
Supervisory and Leadership Provide and receive feedback; support leadership; promote personal and store growth
Demonstrate professionalism and maintain positive team relationships
Participate in interviews to support team development;
Demonstrate problem-solving and commitment to continuous learning
Travel to cover other stores within the district as needed
Assist in scheduling changes and drive a mission-focused, high-service environment
Support special projects and other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1–3 months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
