THE POSITION

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is currently seeking to fill the position of Clerical Assistant 3, a role that entails the thorough examination and processing of intricate motor vehicle and driver licensing applications submitted by the public at service counters. In this position, you will be expected to possess a comprehensive understanding of the Motor Vehicle Code, as well as the procedures and regulations established by the Department of Transportation regarding vehicle registration and licensing. Your responsibilities will include the examination and processing of both straightforward and intricate applications for motor vehicle and driver licenses through a computerized system. This encompasses a variety of tasks related to driver licensing, such as renewing or replacing standard and commercial driver licenses, issuing occupational limited licenses, probationary licenses, and ignition interlock licenses. Additionally, you will handle the renewal or replacement of non-driver photo identification cards, update medical certifications for commercial driver licenses, manage driver license restorations, process requests for paid driver license information, and address cases involving bad checks or refund requests.

In terms of motor vehicle operations, your role will involve reviewing and processing applications for ownership transfers of vehicles registered in Pennsylvania or those acquired from out of state. You will be responsible for issuing various types of registration plates available to the public, including special organization plates, vanity tags, and antique/classic/vintage registration plates, as well as seasonal and farm plates or biennial certificates. Furthermore, you will process requests related to imported or exported vehicles, correct odometer readings, handle salvage vehicle titles, and manage regular motor vehicle registration renewals, updates, and replacements. Your duties will also include processing requests for weight changes on vehicles, recording or removing lienholder information from motor vehicle records, restoring suspended registrations, and managing applications for disability parking placards. Additionally, you will create dead tag records for returned registration plates, ensuring that all transactions are conducted efficiently and in compliance with established regulations. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Overtime available after training is complete. Mandatory overtime may apply. May be required to work when a full day and/or partial-day office closing is authorized. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);

or One year of moderately complex clerical experience;
