About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the programs and reach of the library district. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction, tactical execution, and leadership of the Foundation, with a primary focus on advanced fundraising. This role involves planning, managing, and securing philanthropic support for the Foundation's annual fund, endowment, and program support. The Executive Director will also be tasked with maximizing revenue through the Friends of the Foundation membership program and will work closely with the Foundation Board and the Executive Director of the Library to align efforts with the organization's goals. Essential functions include assessing fundraising needs, maintaining a donor portfolio, developing campaigns, and providing stewardship for all gifts received.
Applicants for the Executive Director position must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5-8 years' of experience, or an advanced degree and 3-5 years' of experience, with a strong emphasis on fundraising and development. The role requires the ability to create and execute strategies for sustainable funds, as well as to support major gift campaigns and planned giving programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, be adept at cultivating donor relationships, and have experience in board relations and fiscal oversight. Strong communication and marketing skills are essential, as is the ability to represent the Foundation in the community and with the media. The Executive Director will also be responsible for supervising Foundation staff and ensuring the organization's mission and values are upheld.
