About the Role
The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for the strategic direction, management, and oversight of all contributed income streams, including membership, corporate sponsorships, special fundraising events, planned giving, capital funding, and grants. The CDO acts as the primary relationship manager for major donors, sponsors, and stakeholders, setting the strategic direction to maximize contributed income across all fundraising programs and platforms. Additionally, the CDO collaborates on day-to-day operations, public relations, goal setting, strategic planning, and longer-term organizational needs, while serving as the primary staff liaison for the Board of Trustees Development Committee and specified campaign committees.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7–10 years' progressive experience in development leadership roles, with a proven track record in major gift solicitation, capital campaigns, and donor stewardship. Strong leadership and team management skills are essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. The candidate should demonstrate strategic thinking, the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to the organization's mission and values. Familiarity with fundraising software and a deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising best practices are also important for success in this role.
