About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to join its executive team and lead a dedicated group focused on increasing public awareness and securing funding to support the organization's mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and leading a comprehensive, strategic advancement program, with a particular emphasis on generating revenue for the annual operating budget, program initiatives, and capital projects. This role requires a diplomatic individual of the highest integrity, capable of navigating complex organizational structures and serving as a resource for the entire organization. The CAO will be expected to be an active participant in strategic discussions and plans, and to work closely with the President and CEO, the board of directors, and the advancement team.
Ideal candidates for the CAO position at the company will have a successful record in advancement, preferably in a healthcare or human services-related environment, and a genuine connection to the organization's mission. They should have a proven ability to drive growth in advancement, a clear understanding of large, high-profile, complex not-for-profit settings, and experience in frontline major gift cultivation and solicitation. The role demands a strategic thinker who can set and achieve ambitious goals, and who is comfortable with both traditional and modern approaches to philanthropy. The CAO will also be responsible for fostering relationships with existing donors and tapping into new, diverse supporters, and should be prepared to spend extensive time on the organization's campus to familiarize themselves with its work and mission. A Bachelor's degree is required, and experience in marketing, communications, and event production is a plus.
