Overview

WestGate Church, a non-denominational, multi-congregational church, seeks an energetic and skilled Children’s Ministry Director for the Saratoga Campus. This full-time role (Sunday - Thursday) may require occasional work on Fridays and Saturdays as well as evening hours.

Description

WestGate Church, a non-denominational, multi-congregational church situated in Silicon Valley, is seeking a Children’s Ministry Director to develop and maintain an effective children’s program for the WestGate Saratoga Campus.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university plus two years related experience and/or training in children’s ministry, early education, elementary education, or a related field.
  • Positive, professional, self-starter with excellent time management, balancing responsibilities while thriving in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and invest in team members’ leadership and discipleship.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality, handling situations with discretion, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Exhibits personal and professional discernment and discretion.
  • Superior communication skills: written and verbal.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and shepherd the Saratoga Children’s Ministry team—including Directors, Coordinators, and Serve Team members—fostering a Christ-centered, collaborative culture.
  • Recruit, build, equip, train, and schedule a strong Serve Team, supporting their personal growth, spiritual development, and leadership capacity.
  • Oversee all KidzTown programming and KidzCare, ensuring excellence, alignment with the Ministry Playbook, and the creation of safe, warm, and welcoming environments. This includes team management, scheduling, event coverage, and lobby support.
  • Manage all aspects of KidzCare, including scheduling, team coverage, and coordination with Directors to ensure appropriate support during events and in the lobby.
  • Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Pastor and SA Children’s team to develop and implement curriculum, and to design fun, engaging, and Christ-centered events that help children encounter Jesus (e.g., Weekend Services, Walk with Jesus, KidzCamp).
  • Lead the planning and execution of an annual respite event for families of children with special needs, and help identify, welcome, and integrate ALL families into the life of KidzTown.
  • Provide spiritual leadership through direct discipleship of children, pastoral care for parents, and intentional relationship-building with families and Serve Team members.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities, including budgeting, leading department meetings, participating in staff meetings, and maintaining accurate records for attendance, event participation, and Serve Team engagement.
  • Support church-wide events with your gifts and talents as time allows and perform other duties as assigned.
