Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing comprehensive audiovisual and technology support for academic conferences, meetings, and special events. The role includes event pre-planning, live technical operation, and post-event troubleshooting to ensure seamless execution of in-person and hybrid programming. This position serves as the primary liaison and point of contact for presenters, creating workflows and technical documentation to streamline event preparation and delivery. The position will also work closely with external partners such as TSAV for infrastructure support and systems maintenance. A strong emphasis will be placed on continuous professional development, particularly with Blackmagic Design platforms, camera-tracking technologies, and video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. This role is essential for maintaining high-quality technical standards and enhancing the reach and impact of events, workshops, and conferences hosted by the organization.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of audiovisual systems, including projection, lighting, livestreaming, sound, and video recording.
They should possess the ability to interpret and implement event production workflows, create technical run sheets, and provide clear guidance to presenters and staff. Effective communication skills are essential, as this position serves as the primary liaison between presenters, internal stakeholders, and external vendors such as TSAV. The role requires the ability to remain calm and resourceful under pressure while troubleshooting in live-event environments, often with limited time to correct issues. A balance of independence and collaborative teamwork is expected, as the position involves managing multiple priorities across concurrent events. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development, particularly with Blackmagic Design systems, camera tracking technology, and editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, will be critical for success. Equally important are interpersonal skills, including patience when providing consultation and training to faculty, presenters, and staff, as well as the ability to maintain a professional and positive demeanor when navigating last-minute changes or challenges. Proficiency with common computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and presentation tools is required, along with general comfort in using databases and technology systems to support event operations.
