Position Summary
Support the Company's sanitation food safety program by focusing on proper cleaning and sanitizing of plant equipment and building in a manner that meets and complies with all food safety policies, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
Essential Functions • Perform basic machine disassembly/setup for cleaning (e.g., covers, piping, cover electrical with plastic) • Complete all cleaning tasks per SSOPs. • Complete MSS projects, prioritize/schedule MSS projects for the team completion. • Perform pre-ops on machines and train on proper pre-op inspections and proper swabbing. • Recognize and address equipment needing deep cleaning, notify proper departments, and ensure areas are clean; update MSS as needed. • Fully train Sanitors/Production on proper cleaning of lines using the 7 steps to proper food plant sanitation and SSOPs. • Train others on chemical titration; manage chemical inventory; work with chemical rep on training, new products, and issues facing sanitation. • Write SSOPs for new equipment; update SSOPs as needed. • Write intensified cleaning procedures and ensure proper cleaning in a timely manner. • Work with Quality Assurance on environmental issues in the plant. • Assist with third party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections. • Track payroll, time off/vacation requests, and attendance. • Work with HR regarding personnel and performance issues. • Report employee safety, food safety, and quality problems to appropriate personal. • Comply with all employee safety/food safety requirements, training, policies, and procedures. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education/Experience) • 5+ years working in a food plant as a sanitor cleaning equipment/machines/building and cleaning. • HACCP certification preferred; if not, willing to become HACCP certified. • Previous experience in a leadership/supervisory role. • Advanced knowledge of pre-rinse/wash/rinse/sanitize steps. • Advanced knowledge of the top-down washing sequence for proper food safety. • Advanced knowledge of chemical usage for sanitation and titrations; proper chemical inventory and organization of SDS/chemical book. • Advanced knowledge of lockout/tagout program and proper usage.
