JOB SUMMARY: The DoughertyCounty School System is seeking a Pest Control Technician to join our team. The Pest Control Technician ensures a safe, healthy, and pest-free environment across all Dougherty County School System (DCSS) facilities. This role involves proactive pest management, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and collaboration with school and departmental staff to support optimal learning conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred;additional
t echnical training in pest control or related field preferred; Five years of verifiable commercial-level pest control experience; Current Commercial Pesticide Applicator License with Category 35 certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire; Must be respirator-qualified or able to become qualified; Must have valid Georgia Driver's license; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong written and verbal communication skills; Physically capable to perform essential job functions, including accessing tight spaces and above ceilings, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy materials; Working knowledge of pest control tools, materials, and technologies;. Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and disposal preferred. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performcomprehensivepest control services in all district facilities, including treatment for insects, rodents, wildlife, and other pests;? Safely apply pesticides and related treatments on a scheduled basis; Develop and maintain accurate records of all pest control services, applications, and inspections in accordance with local and state regulations; Maintain active certification and complete all continuing education and training required for licensure; Keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
c urrent for all chemicals used and ensure compliance with hazard communication standards; Train and support staff on safe chemicalhandling procedures and regulations; Manage inventory of pest control chemicals, tools, and equipment; ensure proper storage and disposal protocols are followed; Implement and overseea proactive pest prevention and maintenance plan; Collaborate with the Environmental Services Coordinator to manage hazardous waste disposal; Ens u re compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and district guidelines; Exhibit professionalism and maintain positive working relationships with school staff,students, and contractors; Perform physically demanding tasks including walking, climbing, crouching, and lifting up to 80 lbs; Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) or department leadership. SALARY RANGE:
12 Month Employee. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
