Essential Job Functions

Supervise the scheduling of plant production and personnel to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. Maintain an adequate level of raw and finished materials to be used in the production and processing of dairy products and/or for distribution to Model Dairy customers. Works with plant management and other supervisory staff. Planning, assigning and directing work, coordinating weekly Continuous Improvement (CI) meetings, addressing product and employee complaints and resolving problems. Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety and state and federal guidelines. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments to machines. Coordinates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Evaluates needs in production for daily assignment of duties; establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Maintains time and production records as required. Provides supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management. Supervision and training of plant and personnel. Maintain the highest product quality through strict adherence to GMP’s in a highly sanitary environment. Work within budgetary guidelines established by management. Maintain a safe work environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Mandatory Job Requirements
To be eligible for this position, an individual must posses the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:
Must be able to stand for long periods, i.e., ten hours with a 1/2 break. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Must possess basic mathematics skills. Must possess basic reading skills. Must possess the following speech, vision and auditory characteristics: Speech level is required to be able to convey information in a high noise level environment. Vision is required to monitor the operation of machinery, construction of packaging and the coloration of the dairy product, as well as to be aware of the hazards of operating machinery and absorb technical data concerning hazardous materials. A sense of taste is required to test dairy products. Hearing, while wearing ear protection, is required to be made aware of hazardous conditions concerning the operation of machinery. Must be able to lift 35 pounds above shoulder and fulfill other physical requirements of the position detailed in "Physical Activities" section. Must be able to work a shift of 10 consecutive hours (with 1/2 hour lunch break) and overtime, as demanded by the business cycle. Must be able to contribute to a safe work environment. High School diploma or GED is required. Non-Mandatory Job Requirements
Advanced education and/or at least 5 years experience in the area of dairy product processing.
