This role is accountable for driving performance in key areas including fiscal stewardship, staff development, optimal resources utilization and patient experience. With a steadfast commitment to quality and safety, the Nursing Manager fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement to achieve the highest standards of patient-centered care.Essential Functions: Applies comprehensive knowledge and clinical expertise to deliver age-appropriate, condition specific care, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compassion, and effectiveness for every patient served.Provides leadership and oversight to assigned professional, technical, and clerical staff, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes accountability, continuous improvement, and consistent delivery of high-quality patient care.Designs and implements strategic staffing models to ensure optimal coverage and continuity of care, proactively aligning team resources with patient acuity and volume to meet evolving care needs.Leads efforts to attract, develop and retain a high-performing, well-rounded nursing team by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and ongoing competency development to ensure excellence in patient care.Plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial health by actively managing departmental productivity, participating in budget planning, and identifying opportunities for cost-effective care delivery without compromising quality.Support the efficient and effective operation of the department by overseeing the management of supplies, equipment, physical space, and technology resources to ensure a safe, organized, and high-performing care environment.Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of essential departmental reports, including staff schedules, payroll, labor productivity metrics, audits, incident documentation, and other assignments, supporting transparency and informed decision making.Support the organization's commitment to excellence by contributing to the achievement and sustained compliance with licensure requirements, regulatory mandates, and accreditation standards through proactive preparation, monitoring, and collaboration.Foster strong, collaborative relationships and open communications with medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, leadership, and frontline staff to support shared decision making and unified approach to patient care.Facilitate quality improvement initiatives within the department or unit, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.Consistently upholds the Code of Ethics for Nurses. This framework provides a principled foundation for ethical nursing practice and sound decision-making in complex care environments.Other Functions:Participates in training, development and continuing education activities to improve role functioning. Responsible for knowing and demonstrating National Patient Safety standards. Participates in department-based activities and initiatives to improve and ensure a safe environment.Participates in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assists in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct.Communicates effectively with members of the health care team, patients and families, often under stress or emergency situations.Assists other members of the nursing care team and/or other disciplines.Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.Performs other duties as assigned.Additional Job Description:Education:Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Required).Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Preferred).For facilities seeking/maintaining Magnet designation: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from an accredited approved school of nursing (Required).Experience:For all candidates: At least two (2) years of experience in an acute care setting (Required)For Frazier Rehab (all candidates): Two (2) years of experience in rehab and one (1) year with pediatric patients (Required).Prior management experience (Preferred)Licensure: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (Required).Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (Required)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (Preferred)National Nursing Certification in Field of Specialty obtained if not held at time of hire (Preferred)Note: additional, specialized certifications may be required or preferred based on unit.
