ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Develop and implement a music curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with multiple disabilities.
- Utilize adaptive teaching methods, instruments, and technology to enhance student participation and engagement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports sensory-friendly experiences.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals to integrate music into students' educational and therapeutic goals.
- Modify lesson plans to accommodate varying levels of ability, ensuring accessibility for all students.
- Organize and lead musical activities, performances, or interactive experiences that promote self-expression.
- Assess and document students' progress in alignment with IEP goals.
- Maintain classroom instruments, equipment, and materials in good condition.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and interdisciplinary planning.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Must hold a New Jersey DOE Teacher of Music (P-12) certification and either a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSWD) or a valid Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) certification at the time of hire.
- Previous experience working with students with multiple disabilities strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of adaptive music education strategies and assistive technology in a special education setting.
- Familiarity with augmentative communication devices and sensory-friendly instruction is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
- Successful completion of the New Jersey Department of Education (DOE) Criminal History Background Check required.
- Hourly Rate: $30 - $40 per hour (based on experience and education level).
