Job Summary: A multigenerational family office in the 5 Towns area is seeking an experienced and highly organized Investment Controller to manage financial operations across more than 10 trusts and related bank accounts. The role focuses on fund movement, trust distributions, financial reporting, and supporting estate and tax planning initiatives within a complex entity structure.
Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Oversight Maintain accounting records for family trusts, personal accounts, and operating entities. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; reconcile intercompany activity. Consolidate reporting to produce a full family balance sheet and income statement. Trust Accounting & Flow-of-Funds Management
Allocate income, distributions, and expenses in accordance with trust terms. Monitor cash flow and execute distributions, capital calls, and reinvestments. Maintain tracking of contributions, preferred returns, and trust status details. Intercompany Coordination & Controls
Document and reconcile loans, advances, and services across entities. Ensure proper documentation and compliance for all related-party transactions. Tax & Regulatory Compliance
Provide accurate financial data to tax advisors for preparation of trust and entity returns. Maintain tax basis tracking for assets, including depreciation and capital improvements. Assist with required filings and trust accountings. Audit, Legal & Estate Planning Support
Prepare financial documentation for auditors, attorneys, and fiduciary reviews. Support estate planning efforts through updated schedules, flow models, and charts. Maintain secure and organized financial files across all trusts and entities. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years with trusts or family office structures. Strong knowledge of GAAP, trust accounting, and intercompany accounting. Proficient in QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage Intacct, or similar systems; strong Excel skills. Comfortable handling sensitive financial data with discretion. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with HNW families or private trust companies. Familiarity with advanced estate structures such as GRATs, CLATs, and estate freezes. Ability to work collaboratively with legal and tax professionals. Highly detail-oriented, organized, and effective at managing multiple priorities.
