JOB SUMMARY To ensure that the students are served nutritious meals in a clean, attractive, and efficiently run cafeteria.
ASSIGNMENT 1. School contact days (hours assigned by Building Administrator)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES A. Assist in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner B. Assume responsibility for seeing that during meal service periods the supply of food offered is replenished regularly C. Perform major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals as designated by the head cook D. Assume responsibility for storage and disposal of unused food E. Take out the milk and other supplies for the lunch program F. Clean tables and chairs G. Prepare trays, dishes and silverware for the dishwasher H. Wash dishes, pots and utensils and put away I. Clean dishwasher and other equipment including the milk coolers J. Clean garbage cans daily K. Assist cooks in food preparation L. Assist cooks serving the students
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE 1. Physical Involvement A. Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or provide simple but continuous adjustments on equipment, machinery and tools such as ovens, microwave, mixers, kitchen utensils, food processor, scales, dishwasher and/or materials used in performing essential functions. B. Requires the ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limps in performing movements requiring moderate skill, such as slicing, mixing and cutting. C. Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate but not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects and materials of moderate weight, twelve to twenty pounds. D. Requires the ability to recognize and identify harmonious or contrasting combinations, as well as recognize individual characteristics of colors, shapes, tastes, odors and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and ingredients.
2. Mental Involvement A. Position requires ability to multi-task while working with interruptions and classroom noise
WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Exposure to kitchen conditions, variables in room temperature from cooking, dishwashing operation and utilization of freezer/refrigeration equipment; slippery floors; noise levels from equipment; sharp blades/slicers; some heavy lifting; works majority of shift on feet.
SUPERVISION OF OTHER EMPLOYEES 1. This position does not include supervision of other District employees
QUALIFICATIONS 1. High School Diploma or equivalent 2. First aid certification is preferred 3. CPR certification is preferred 4. Prior experience within an educational system or working with children preferred 5. Valid Minnesota Driver's License 6. Must complete the necessary application process and pass a criminal background check and drug screening test
