Description of Work This is skilled work in preparing/cooking a major portion or all of a meal in a commercial kitchen. This position is usually responsible for preparing an entrée, starch, or vegetable for Breakfast, Lunch, and/or Supper meal. Cooks are responsible for all consistency modifications required including thickening products, chopping, mincing and pureeing food and beverage items to medically prescribed consistencies. Other responsibilities may include baking breads, cakes, and other dessert items; preparing special catered meals or party foods; processing foods for meal substitutions; and preparing special medically prescribed dietary meals, etc. Work is performed in accordance with recipes and quantities of ingredients provided for each meal. This work requires skill in determining cooking times for various food items in order to complete all portions of the meal at the prescribed serving times.
Work Schedule:
5:00am - 2:00pm, with rotating weekends and holidays.
