Food Service Assistant - Floating
SUMMARY:
To prepare and serve quality food to students in a quick and pleasant manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Performs a variety of food service accounting activities such as balances, deposits, count sheets, and damaged item reports. Orders food and materials and maintains and conducts inventories. Endorses checks and makes bank deposits. Operates a computer and related software. Operates a variety of food preparation and service equipment. Performs daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met. Maintains order and safety in the kitchen and cafeteria. Sets up & breaks down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, ala carte etc.). Counts money, completes related reports. Receives cash and checks for meals. Controls distribution of debit cards. Work hours are not to exceed 1000 hours per school year. Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving preferred.
This is position is a daily food assistant that require travel between the five schools. Start date: August 18, 2025 Salary: $15.00 an hour Benefits: Illinois Retirement Fund (IMRF), Sick, Personal and Bereavement Days FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
