Summary
Reporting to the Director or Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Manager supports the implementation and coordination of HR initiatives for a workforce of 600+ employees, including a significant base of manufacturing staff. This role focuses on executing HR strategies, ensuring compliance, and supporting employee engagement efforts. The HR Manager provides day-to-day supervision of HR functions, works collaboratively with cross-functional departments, and supports a team that may include HR generalists or administrative support.
This role acts as a critical link between employees and leadership, handling a wide range of human resources tasks with a strong emphasis on service, communication, and operational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
HR Strategy Support:
Partner with senior HR leaders to execute strategies aligned with business goals and workforce planning needs. Recommend tactical improvements to HR practices and contribute to planning efforts. HR Operations Management:
Lead the day-to-day delivery of core HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. Help optimize workflows to enhance employee experience and HR service delivery. People Management:
Supervise and mentor junior HR team members such as HR generalists or coordinators. Ensure consistent, high-quality support across the employee lifecycle. Employee Engagement & Performance Support:
Assist in implementing employee engagement initiatives and supporting performance management practices. Help address employee concerns and escalate sensitive issues appropriately. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation:
Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations. Support workplace safety and employee wellbeing programs in coordination with relevant departments. Data & Reporting:
Gather and analyze HR data and metrics to inform decision-making and report on workforce trends. Maintain accurate HR documentation and records. Project Participation:
Support HR-driven projects such as training initiatives, internal communications, and system implementations (e.g., Learning Management Systems). Coordinate with other business units to ensure timely execution and alignment. Minimum Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience:
3-5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least one year of supervisory or team lead responsibilities. Skills & Abilities:
Solid understanding of HR practices, employment law, and workplace compliance. Ability to resolve employee issues, coach managers, and support organizational culture. Proficiency with HR systems and tools; familiarity with HRIS and LMS platforms is a plus. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in manufacturing or similar environments is preferred. HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are advantageous. Exposure to private equity-backed or matrixed organizations is a plus. Core Competencies
