Position Overview
The Human Resources Manager will lead all HR activities and initiatives within the respective Distribution Center(s). This role acts as the primary business partner to the Assistant General Manager and DC Operations Managers, while also supporting the VP and Directors of Distribution. You will drive Burlington’s HR programs and services including HR operations, internal staffing and recruitment, succession planning, compensation, benefits, training and development, diversity, total rewards, performance management, associate relations, organizational development and other company sponsored programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of HR Specialists and Coordinators through coaching, engagement, training, development, and day-to-day support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of questions/concerns. Foster a learning environment and drive consistency in processes and communication across Distribution Centers.
- Develop a close HR Business Partner relationship with business leaders (GM, AGMs, OMs) to understand the business and influence associate strategies.
- Regularly walk the floor to build relationships and maintain visibility with associates.
- Provide guidance on HR strategies and programs that support the organization’s vision, culture, and business needs.
- Interview and evaluate internal and external talent for growth and succession planning. Partner with Talent Acquisition to drive postings, hiring events, peak staffing, and interview schedules.
- Manage duties for the assigned areas including policies and procedures, leadership development, performance management, terminations, and benefits.
- Foster a coaching culture to improve the quality and frequency of developmental feedback and the performance appraisal experience.
- Manage LOA and accommodation processes for the respective building, including review and determinations with leadership teams; execute and partner on exempt LOA and accommodations.
- Coach business leaders on engagement survey results and develop meaningful action plans to improve engagement.
- Handle employee relations issues, investigate complaints, resolve conflicts, and advise on appropriate actions in collaboration with AR leadership.
- Serve as a resource for benefits inquiries and guidance on unemployment hearings and workers’ compensation hearings.
- Coordinate with internal and/or external legal counsel as needed; participate in mediations, arbitrations, and related proceedings.
- Leverage HR metrics to identify issues and develop plans to address turnover and improve retention.
- Facilitate effective onboarding and integration of new associates with business leader partnership and appropriate training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
- PHR/SPHR certification (preferred).
- 3+ years of HR leadership experience, preferably in a Distribution Center or retail environment.
- Foundational understanding of Employment Law and knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations (EEO, wage and hour, benefits, leave policies).
- Ability to lead and develop a high-functioning team and execute large-scale initiatives and projects.
Pay and Location
Base pay range: $95,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr
