Position Description
Seattle University College of Nursing invites applicationsfor part-time adjunct faculty to teach at the BSN through DNP levels.Applications are accepted throughout the year, with openings available in avariety of specialties.
We seek outstanding nurses with at least one year of experience in theirspecialties to teach clinically in the following areas: medical-surgicalnursing, reproductive health nursing, pediatric nursing, psychiatric/mentalhealth nursing, population health, and geriatric nursing.In addition, wewelcome applicants with advanced practice certification and two years ofclinical experience to teach graduate students in care systems leadership,midwifery and several nurse practitioner tracks: Family, Adult-Gerontology(Acute and Primary Care), and Family Psychiatric Mental Health.

Depending upon specialty and site, prelicensure clinical courses are taughtfrom one to two days a week; eight hour or twelve-hour shifts; days, evenings,or nights; weekdays or weekends; and in a variety of clinical sites throughoutKing, Snohomish, and Pierce counties.
Qualifications A master’s degree plus two years of clinicalexperience is preferred for all faculty positions; however, applicants with abaccalaureate degree in nursing and three years of experience in the specialtywill be considered for prelicensure courses only. Applicants should holdan unencumbered license to practice Washington State as a RegisteredNurse. Advanced practice faculty must also hold WA State licensure as anAdvanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).

Compensation at a Glance: Adjunct faculty are compensated per workload unit (WLU), withrates based on their highest degree and teaching experience. Compensationtypically ranges from $1,050 to $1,495 per WLU, with higher rates offered tothose holding or pursuing advanced degrees such as a master’s, DNP, or PhD.Returning adjuncts generally receive a modest increase over new adjunct rates. Seattle University has provided a compensation rangethat represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for theposition at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidatewill be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selectedcandidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equityconsiderations, and available market information, and not based on acandidate’s gender or any other protected status. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. SeattleUniversity provides generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributionsthat add to your total compensation package.
