Accountant
The part-time accountant will reconcile records with the Virginia Resource Authority for the DWSRF program.
This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the DWSRF Grant for a year, period ending August 31, 2026. Performs professional level work of moderate difficulty requiring the application of accounting theory and principles. Characteristic duties: develop methods of recording fiscal transactions, allocate funds, update and maintain accounting systems, independently prepare financial statements/reports/cost analyses, and develop and present budgets and other financial information for review. Other major duties: all functions of compensation accounting including assuring timely processing of payrolls, distribution of checks, preparing federal/state tax reporting, fringe benefits and premium conversion. May supervise or lead fiscal paraprofessionals and/or other support personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices including cost accounting. Knowledge of the use of data processing techniques in maintaining accounting records. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt established accounting methods to a variety of financial transactions and records and multiple funding streams. Demonstrated ability to design and compile financial reports and statements.
