Job Description
JOB TITLE: Project Mechanical Engineer
PLANT/DEPARTMENT: Defense Engineering DIRECTED BY: Director of Engineering
IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Customers, Marketing & Program Management, Plant Personnel, Vendor Representatives, Supply Chain
DIRECTS: Engineering personnel as assigned (non-supervisory role)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Design development and technical management of assigned engineering projects.
MAJOR DUTIES:

- Responsible for interpretation of and compliance with customer purchase specifications. \n
- Develop design or design concept and product specifications within cost and budget goals. \n
- Coordinate project and design engineers’ efforts, based on budget and schedule, when assigned lead engineering responsibility. \n
- Make or oversee preparation of layout drawings. \n
- Perform calculations. \n
- Prepare detail and assembly drawings when drafting assistance is unavailable. \n
- Confer with engineering management on problems encountered and questions arising on project. \n
- Develop requirements for and specify purchased components. \n
- Communicate with other Trident operations on project requirements. \n
- Prepare proposals with estimated engineering effort from customer specifications and to marketing requirements. \n
- Participate in design reviews and other assigned activities. \n
- Lead design reviews (internal and external) on assigned engineering projects. \n
- Direct checking of all drawings prepared for use on project. \n
- Prepare test procedures and participate in testing of assigned engineering projects. \n
- BOM management and project releases. \n
- Other duties as assigned. \n
EDUCATION PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:
- B.S.M.E.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:
- \n
- 5 years mechanical or hydraulic design of powered equipment \n
- Short notice travel may be required. \n
- Experience with government contracts and regulations preferred but not required. \n
- Experience with marine design and regulation preferred but not required. \n
- Experience leading design projects from conception through manufacturing and testing. \n
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Job may require long hours of sitting/computer usage.
