ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an Electrician for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It’s a rotational position with a schedule of 3 months on the island and 1 month off (unpaid). Wake Island is 2,100 miles from HNL. On-site housing is provided in a dormitory facility and meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL. Transportation to Wake Island is provided by government-sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for installation and construction with some maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment
- Knowledge of the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in industrial plants
- Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications
- Use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction, including but not limited to:
- hydraulic/electric benders
- knockout punch sets
- cable puller
- meggers
- hi-pot equipment
- volt meters
- multi-testers
- ammeter
- Able to set and coordinate over-current protective devices, size feeder circuits and have a basic understanding to work on systems across the island
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Journeyman Electrician's License
- Ability to perform associated mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of safety management principles and practices
- Strong MS Office and other computer skills
- Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules
- Ability to speak, write and read English
- Must have state driver’s licenses and acceptable record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, fingerprints, and drug screening
- Candidates must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
