Job Description
WSP’s Visualization and Data Intelligence (VDI) is a national practice of about 55 professionals that works on mission-driven professional services and consulting projects. VDI is a dynamic in-house design and technology innovation team that supports Future Ready projects shaping our communities. We focus on the intersection of visual communication and technology and collaborate across disciplines to deliver multifaceted visual products for clients. The team is committed to teamwork and innovation and works on a variety of challenging projects and technologies.
WSP’s VDI practice is initiating a search for a Senior Graphic Designer based in WSP’s Lakewood/Denver, CO office. You will work on multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity, in close collaboration with colleagues and clients. The workload is fluid and driven by client schedules and requirements. The successful candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced consulting environment. VDI graphic designers maintain knowledge of and proficiency with the latest technologies and trends in the graphic design field and are supported to research and employ new design and development techniques.
Your Impact
- Create highly polished original designs and visual solutions for national-level projects intended for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide design consultation and design solutions by working with clients and WSP peers.
- Collaborate with other VDI design professionals to develop tailored, multi-disciplinary creative solutions that meet project needs.
- Consult with WSP peers and subject-matter experts on design process and the most effective solution for communication challenges.
- Coordinate with WSP peers and subject-matter experts to interpret complex technical information and develop simplified graphics that communicate concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Work on several projects in parallel, with priorities that may shift and support adjusting to changes in priorities.
- Maintain and grow relationships within WSP to generate project work.
- Coordinate with the Graphic Design Group Lead on schedule and design efforts to ensure high-quality products and meeting deadlines.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- A design portfolio of relevant professional work with your role and contributions clearly identified for each example. No application will be considered without a portfolio and clear role explanations.
- Either a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with 5+ years of progressively responsible experience, or an associate degree in graphic design or closely allied field with 7+ years of progressively responsible graphic design experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro.
- Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design skills including design process, color theory, composition and layout, typography, image resolution, copyright and IP use, digital and traditional publication, print pre-production, and coordination with professional printing services.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to lead and be part of design teams as required by projects.
- Ethical, responsive, and detail-oriented work ethic that values creativity and quality.
- Collaborative and empathetic personality that values teamwork and shared success.
Your application will be more successful if you have:
- Proficiency in at least one other design area (e.g., Figma/UI/UX, Premiere Pro/video, After Effects/motion graphics, CommonLook/accessibility).
- Familiarity with architectural or engineering design, including scalable design, dimensions, and construction details.
- Familiarity with videography and video production processes.
- Proficiency in accessibility design and Section 508 compliance.

Compensation
Expected Salary (Colorado Only): $100,000 - $110,000
WSP USA provides the compensation range in good faith and reserves the right to modify the range based on education, experience, location, internal equity, and other factors. This position is subject to a final determination of pay and benefits, and is not based on gender or other protected status.
