Overview

As a Real Estate/Construction Advisory Manager, you will be responsible for all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients with a focus on real estate and construction across industries such as data centers, energy, infrastructure, commercial real estate, and hospitality. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and completing projects and services for investigations, litigation support, project monitoring initiatives, and developing and managing staff. You will work closely with partners and staff on client management, practice development, and business development, with accountability for an assigned group of clients. From day one, you’ll be empowered by the Risk team to help clients achieve their vision and help you grow professionally.

Responsibilities

Review construction contracts, financial statements, job cost reports, internal policies, and process maps to identify cost savings, process inefficiencies, and strategic initiatives.

Coordinate with multiple stakeholders and third parties to understand the construction project control environment and propose recommended controls to address identified gaps.

Review complex financial analyses to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies across multiple sources of data and supporting documentation.

Analyze compliance with various labor requirements, including those on prevailing wage jobs reliant on federal funding or tax credit incentives.

Assist in matters involving fraud, waste, and abuse, including allegations of bribery, collusion, conflicts of interest, organized crime, and other scenarios posing legal or regulatory exposure to clients.

Conduct targeted research on regulatory requirements including IRS guidance, accounting standards codification, and AICPA practice aids to support defensible conclusions on complex engagement needs.

Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, organizing, conducting, directing, and completing projects and services within budget.

Collaborate across Grant Thornton service lines and with international colleagues to deliver comprehensive, high-impact client solutions.

Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.

Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality reviews, and client management.

Work with Grant Thornton Senior Managers, Managing Directors, and Partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues.

Communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Play a key role in future business generation by identifying, developing, and securing new opportunities.

Participate in recruiting top talent, including conducting interviews on campus and for experienced candidates.

Attend professional development, networking events, and training seminars.

Adhere to the highest professional standards and maintain client confidentiality.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, MIS, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice servicing real estate and/or construction clients or projects at a national level.

Certified professionals such as CPA, CFE, CMA, CFA, CCA, CIA, PMP, PMBOK or other related certifications.

Experience in management consulting, internal audit, regulatory compliance, and/or forensic engagements preferred.

Proven advisory experience in the real estate and/or construction industries.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel capabilities.

Knowledge of federal and state construction labor regulations, including the Davis-Bacon Act.

Excellent analytical, research, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple engagements and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Exceptional client service and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to client sites, domestically and internationally.

Travel expected: 10% - 25%.

Compensation The base salary ranges are:

New York, NY: $129,600 – $194,400

San Francisco, CA: $138,000 – $207,000

Chicago, IL: $120,000 – $180,000
