We are seeking a
Manager
to join and manage our Trading Platform Engineering team within Investment Implementation & Trading (IIT) Technology. In this position, you will build solutions to today’s buy-side trader challenges and lead hands-on solution architecture, implementation, and team management. The role involves high interaction with traders/trading professionals and senior management to set strategy and devise innovative solutions for the trading desk. You will work with IT peers to design, develop, test, implement, and support solutions, taking accountability and maintaining an open mindset while learning opportunities are leveraged. You should possess a strong work ethic, analytical and project management skills, be an effective communicator, and thrive at building a successful technology team delivering best-in-class trading solutions. Responsibilities
Partner with Wellington’s Global Trading professionals to envision and architect world-class trading platforms across all asset classes and business channels. Conceptualize and deliver best-in-class trading and data-driven decision-making capabilities to help Traders and Portfolio Managers obtain the best outcomes for clients. Lead a team of Software Engineers, owning talent management for the team including recruiting, goal setting, career management, promotions, compensation, performance reviews, and mentoring. Support technology solutions enabling 24x6 trading in global markets. Align with the Architecture Team to maintain strategic direction, adhere to standards, and partner with other IT teams for consistent design and comprehensive solutions. Design, implement, deploy, and support trading platforms and related applications to remain competitive and compliant with industry regulations. Set strategy, manage multiple priorities, and own outcomes. Balance business and technical perspectives to execute a shared vision with internal teams. Manage delivery across initiatives, including budgets, vendor staffing, and vendor relationships. Stay current with trading industry and technical trends to maintain high-caliber applications, systems, and team. Collaborate with Project/Program Managers, Technical and QA Leads on estimates, statuses, issues, and risks. Establish and communicate KPIs and OKRs to senior leadership on a regular basis. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field 10+ years’ experience in technology delivery in trading or portfolio management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and time management Experience designing and delivering solid solutions for complex business problems Experience managing people, multiple projects, and department initiatives Ability to influence and collaborate with various internal teams to execute on a vision Strong knowledge of OMS, TCA practices, and Trading Analytics across asset classes Expertise in software development and testing methodologies with Java/J2EE Experience with messaging and high-throughput, low-latency frameworks (e.g., JMS, Kafka, ElasticSearch) Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Angular, React Experience with FIX Experience with cloud technologies (AWS) Hands-on knowledge of SQL or other relational databases Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment supporting a production environment Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? At Wellington Management, compensation is designed to attract and retain top talent. The base salary range for this position is USD 100,000 - 225,000, with additional compensation including discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
