Leidos is seeking a part time senior level Mechanical Engineer to be on site with our Intel Community customer. This position will be responsible for designing, cost estimating, scheduling, engineering, coordination, contracting, installation oversight, inspection, and acceptance of mechanical systems/services, including HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boiler, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems associated with Intel customer facilities and critical infrastructure. You will have demonstrated mechanical engineering experience, well-developed professional skills and a proven track record of delivering results. Your ability to work collaboratively with a team across multiple organizations and the company will be crucial for success. Primary responsibilities : Perform HVAC, HVAC controls, chillers, boiler, water distribution, ductwork, plumbing, and fire protection systems design for FAA Terminal facilities (Air Traffic Control Tower, Terminal Radar Approach Control facilities, etc). Conduct on-site surveys to develop “to-scale” designs and detailed reports. Generate sketches/drawings showing the relation of proposed installation in existing or new facilities with exact specifications and dimensions. Participate in construction inspections and final inspections. Confer with engineering staff and other personnel to identify and resolve problems with the design or implementation. Coordinate design components with a multi-disciplinary team as required for site-specific modifications and new construction. Prepare AutoCAD construction drawings and site-specific specifications, contract documents, and independent cost estimates. Perform project management tasks and communications (including safety plans, sequence of work, cutover plans). Assist in generating and coordinating Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, and project risk register to meet Operational Risk Management (ORM) requirements. Coordinate and complete work permits for potential impact to lead and asbestos during construction. Participate in pre-construction and on-site construction meetings with stakeholders to coordinate with other ongoing projects. Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction activities to meet milestones and deadlines, working with stakeholders and contractors. Manage and participate in on-site cutovers, testing and restoration of facilities. Prepare, maintain, and provide periodic updates of projects to team, management, and stakeholders. Manage multiple projects toward on-time completion. Review contractor design and construction submittals. Review project deliverables and communicate findings. Provide and coordinate timely responses for project RFIs and submittals. Monitor progress of projects and stakeholder needs. Work independently to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgment for adaptations to engineering designs. Develop project plans, schedules, and estimates. Maintain organized documentation. Work in a large engineering organization and discuss project items with stakeholders, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Basic Qualifications TS/SCI with CI Poly U.S. Citizenship Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years; additional experience in lieu of degree acceptable. Registered Professional Engineer in good standing in the United States At least 8+ years of experience with mechanical systems design including HVAC and plumbing for commercial, industrial, and/or government facilities Current knowledge of building and energy codes for heating/cooling load calculations, ductwork sizing, piping calculations and distribution, sections/elevations, and equipment sizing and selection Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and engineering scheduling tools; ability to use the Internet for gathering/communication Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, with stakeholders, peers, and management Ability to maintain an electronic project folder and provide technical assistance for punch-list closures Ability to gather data, analyze information, and develop project plans and schedules Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment Basic knowledge of multiple disciplines and their requirements for typical standard projects Ability to discuss project items with stakeholders, contractors, and AHJ Qualifications SCADA systems familiarity PMP Certification or equivalent Experience working in regulated industries such as aerospace.
