POSITION SUMMARY

The People Business Partner (PBP) serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and team members at our Portillo’s Food Service (PFS) manufacturing plants and identified business units at the Restaurant Support Center (RSC) to bring Portillo’s purpose to life: creating lifelong memories by igniting the senses with unrivaled food and experiences. This role plays a key part in aligning people strategies with business goals while fostering a culture rooted in our Values of Family, Greatness, Energy, and Fun. The PBP provides thought partnership, data-driven insights, and hands-on support across all aspects of the team member lifecycle, including attracting and developing talent, driving engagement, supporting performance, and strengthening organizational effectiveness. By anticipating needs, solving challenges, and modeling our Values, the PBP ensures leaders are equipped to build strong teams, deliver best-in-class results, and create an environment where every team member can thrive. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Enable our Purpose to create lifelong memories by igniting the senses with unrivaled food and experiences: Family: Work together to make everyone feel at home, and we step up when someone needs help Build strong, trusted relationships with PFS and RSC leadership Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver a best-in-class Team Member and candidate experience that reflects our Purpose and Values Support PFS and identified business units at the RSC with staffing, scheduling, onboarding, training, performance, engagement, career development, and compliance Collaborate with People (HR) team leadership, Plant Management, and RSC leaders to address short- and long-term talent needs Respond to team member and manager requests for assistance on policy interpretation, conflict resolution, employment law, benefit, and other People (HR) matters Greatness: We’re obsessed with being the best and work hard to continuously improve. Our greatness is rooted in Quality, Service, Attitude and Cleanliness Diagnose people-related issues using data, trends, and root cause analysis; recommend and implement solutions Partner with leaders and the talent management team to strengthen the performance management processes and ensure proper execution of programs Coach and develop leadership capability to drive results and organizational change Participate as a strategic partner in leadership meetings, ensuring People (HR) implications are considered in business decisions Maintain business acumen and partner with leaders to drive results through our people Stay current on employment laws and regulatory changes, ensuring People practices remain compliant and proactively update leaders as needed Energy: We move with urgency and passion, while maintaining attention to detail Partner with Communications and other teams to ensure effective team member communication that reinforces policies, practices, benefits, Values, etc. Ensure proper execution of training programs and People (HR) initiatives that build culture, leadership, and engagement Lead and support organizational change across business units Support the roll out of company programs ensuring consistent implementation where team members are impacted Provide timely counsel on People (HR) policies, procedures, laws, and standards; adjust to evolving legal and regulatory requirements Fun: We entertain our guests, we connect authentically, and we make each other smile Support leaders with talent evaluation, succession planning, performance management, bench planning, and growth opportunities Collaborate with people (HR) team members to process promotions and align on total rewards packages. Educate leaders on compensation practices and benefits programs Partner as needed with leadership, Team Member Relations, and Benefits teams on matters of coaching, counseling, performance improvement, disciplinary action, leaves of absence, and accommodations Work with Talent Acquisition team to develop, monitor, and educate leadership on recruiting strategy, sourcing tactics and selection process to improve the flow, quality, and selection of job candidates for identified business units Partner with Learning & Development team to create training programs for identified business units and ensure consistent execution Other duties as assigned ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director, People Business Partner and advises Plant Managers and business unit leaders at the RSC as their direct business partner. QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Level/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in business or related field Professional certification preferred (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) Work Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 8+ years of progressive HR experience across generalist and business partner roles, with a track record of supporting diverse functions and driving business results Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred Prior experience in manufacturing and/or food production strongly preferred; multi-unit experience beneficial Labor relations experience required Proven ability to handle highly confidentiality information with discretion Skilled at building strong relationships across all levels of the organization to foster trust, collaboration, and results Recognized developer of talent through setting clear expectations, coaching, encouragement, and leveraging team strengths Ability to inspire and motivate others by setting a clear vision, creating confidence, and driving high performance Consistently holds self and others accountable for results through fair and transparent performance management Experience leading organizational change aligned with company purpose, values, and strategic direction Strong leadership background with a proven track record of developing and sustaining high-performing teams Effective communicator who listens actively, conveys information clearly, and presents content in a concise and engaging manner Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Workday preferred Travel Requirement This position is based at the RSC in Oakbrook, IL with frequent visits to the manufacturing plants in Addison, IL and Aurora, IL required Pay Range will be $85,000 to $105,000 DISCLAIMER : The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by incumbents assigned to this job.
