Base pay range:

Boulder, CO Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of comprehensive EH&S programs and initiatives, including contractor and construction safety, industrial hygiene, chemical management, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), confined space entry, powered industrial trucks, electrical safety, hazard communication, DOT dangerous goods, ware-house and laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, hearing conservation, and environmental sustainability. Collaborate with site staff and subject matter experts across departments to drive compliance, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement efforts. Provide general project management support and act as a liaison with cross-functional teams to drive outcomes. Develop and implement technical safety initiatives that support operations on time and on budget. Oversee the design and execution of safety programs to ensure safe, compliant, and effective operation of manufacturing systems. Administer the Industrial Hygiene (IH) program, including testing, protocol development, and risk-based IH strategy. Deliver environmental and sustainability programs (air emissions, storm water, wastewater, pollution prevention, hazardous waste management, and environmental reporting). Manage Process Safety Management (PSM) elements, including PHA, MOC, and Mechanical Integrity (MI). Support site expansion or construction projects as the EH&S liaison with project sponsors and support teams. Serve as the EH&S representative supporting the site’s functional business units. Continuously enhance risk assessment processes to identify and mitigate enterprise-level risks. Lead and participate in investigations addressing compliance concerns and regulatory questions. Support the development and implementation of the site’s EHS Management System and collaborate with Manufacturing, QC Labs, Chemical Development, Analytical Labs, and Engineering to ensure compliance with EH&S requirements. Partner with US EH&S teams to implement global initiatives and align site practices with enterprise standards. Act as an active member of the site’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), responding to emergencies within training level (CPR, First Aid, AED use, chemical spill response). Perform other duties to support EH&S and site objectives. Qualifications and Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, engineering, or applied sciences is required. 10+ years related experience Desired Skills

EHS certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) for safety management GMP experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing Experience working at a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility Strong understanding of EH&S principles, laws, and regulations Ability to design, develop, and implement EHS Management Systems (safety, environmental, and health programs) Assess processes and equipment for risks; develop solutions to reduce hazards and environmental impact Familiarity with EH&S Management Systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Experience in research laboratories, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environments Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to maintain accurate records and respond to emergencies Ability to identify hazards, drive continuous improvement, and implement risk controls Strong cross-functional collaboration and influence across organizational levels High energy, adaptability, resilience, and a passion for excellence Analytical thinking, initiative, teamwork, and attention to detail Ability to apply scientific and biological principles to technical challenges Contributes to strategic and functional decision-making; exercises sound judgment within procedures Seniority level
