Overview
Academic Counselor for the Veteran's Upward Bound Program at The Catholic University of America. The Academic Counselor (Academic Director) works with participating veterans to assess needs, create personalized academic goals, and achieve those goals through VUB programming. Monitors student engagement and success. Executes academic interventions. Guides participating veterans in college selection and application process. Collaborates closely with instructors, the University’s Center for Academic Success, and other stakeholders and resources throughout the University and the community. Salary range: $55,000-$60,000. Responsibilities
Assess the needs of participating veterans and develop an individualized academic plan. Monitor participant success and engagement. Guide participants in college selection and application. Guide participants through FAFSA and other grants as well as scholarship opportunities. Serve as liaison to other stakeholders both within and external to the university. Serve on university committees as assigned. Represent the VUB Project Director as needed. Represent SPS and the University with an engaging, helpful, team-oriented demeanor consistent with the university’s mission and Roman Catholic character. Supervise subordinates effectively. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Master's degree Veteran status is preferred. Experience as a low-income, first-generation college student is preferred. Job details
