Responsibilities
Leadership & Management: Report directly to the branch Director of Y&FS; develop and maintain a positive childcare leadership team; recruit, train, supervise, and develop part-time staff and volunteers; conduct staff evaluations; collaborate with the Association Director of Y&FS Programs and Quality; act as the Childcare Cabinet representative; participate in quarterly reviews with executive leadership.
Program Development & Operations: Manage all aspects of the After School program; operate the ASCC program during school year; assist with summer camps when needed; develop and implement high-quality curricula and activities; organize registrations; coordinate facilities; secure field trips and transportation; expand programs in line with strategic plans.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with state/local childcare regulations; ensure safety procedures and program standards are met.
Budget & Resource Management: Purchase and maintain ASCC materials; develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Community Engagement & Marketing: Develop relationships with community organizations; promote childcare programs; develop recruitment plans for YMCA childcare programs.
Organizational Culture & Values: Promote YMCA core values and leadership attributes; foster staff engagement, inclusion, and community building; apply leadership attributes (Accountability, Ownership, Managerial Courage, Teamwork, Focused Discipline).
Other Expectations: Adhere to policies on boundaries with consumers; complete required abuse risk management training; follow procedures for high-risk activities; reporting requirements; supervision and training for abuse risk; progressive discipline; protect consumers from abuse; report abuse risk information to the board.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood, recreation, human services or equivalent.
Two or more years of related supervisory experience in school-aged childcare, teen programming, and/or day camping.
Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements, YMCA standards and ACA standards for day camps.
Strong interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make oral presentations.
Skills in staff and volunteer supervision, values education, community program development, and fundraising.
Must be able to drive a bus. Must be at least 20 years old to drive a bus.
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Incumbents must complete mandatory training in New Staff Orientation, BBP/Child Abuse Prevention and CPR/1st Aid/AED within 30 days of employment.
