Overview The MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for term lecturer faculty positions across a variety of programs, including: Communication Sciences & Disorders, Genetic Counseling, Health Professions Education, Healthcare Administration & Data Analytics, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Rehabilitation Sciences, Healthcare Leadership, and Audiology.

Term Lecturers are appointed on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon student demand, and typically teach between 3-9 credits per semester, dependent on program requirements, in various formats (for example, classroom settings, labs, simulation spaces, or at clinical sites).

Term Lecturers hired into these roles will possess one of the following titles: Term Lecturer, Course Developer, Facilitator, Laboratory Instructor, Simulation Coordinator, Site Clinical Instructor, Teaching Fellow, Clinical Oversight Instructor, or Project Mentor.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality instruction in alignment with area of expertise and program needs.

Develop and manage online course content using Desire2Learn (D2L) where applicable.

Publish and maintain the course syllabus.

Oversee course management and content delivery.

Conduct assessments and assign grades for student performance.

Provide student mentoring and academic support, including designated office hours.

Qualifications General qualifications

(program-dependent):

An advanced or terminal degree in a relevant field.

Previous clinical experience in applicable programs.

An active professional license for programs requiring licensure.

A commitment to graduate student success and a dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion.

The ability to work independently and engage with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, administration, staff, patients, and external partners.

Specific duties and responsibilities

are contingent on the program and role; during the selection process, relevant program details will be provided.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Physical Capabilities: Regular activities such as sitting, standing, mobility, using hands for various tasks, and oral communication. Reasonable accommodations available. Vision requirements include close vision and adjustable focus. Some travel may be necessary.

Professional Skills: Flexible scheduling, ability to prioritize tasks, self-monitoring, collaborative teamwork (including interprofessional settings), and tracking multiple projects.

Note : The salary of the finalist will vary based on the term lecturer role and the number of credit hours or lab hours worked during the semester.
