BTI Security – Armed Security Police Officer (SPO)
Duties
Provide visual deterrence against wrongful acts against our client’s employees, customers, and property
Understand company policies and successfully execute post orders
Access Control Package Screening (X-Ray Machine)
Personnel screening (Hand Wands / Magnetometers)
Traffic control and visitor processing
Vehicle inspection
Communications and dispatching
Patrol areas inside and outside of the facility
Emergency and event response
Physical requirements: standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
Correctly attired in uniform, equipment, and grooming
Qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States and willing to undergo a full background and personal reference check, in accordance with local law/regulations
Capable of making rational and reasonable decisions during tense, uncertain, rapidly evolving situations
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, military police, or professional correctional officer experience
High school diploma or equivalency; collegiate coursework or an AA/AS degree is preferred
Current SPO (Armed) license issued by the DC SOMB
Carry and be qualified to carry a 9mm semiautomatic pistol; Pepper Spray (OC) certification
Current CPR/First Aid card
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands
Physically able to perform assigned duties
Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors
May be required to subdue or intervene with violent or disturbed individuals
Stamina in all forms (mental and climatic) required
Occasional running, lifting heavy items, moving objects, and climbing stairs
