Overview
Assistant Principal, Maryvale Elementary School – Montgomery County Public Schools. Under the direction of the principal, the assistant principal assists with administering and supervising the total school program and provides educational leadership for students and staff consistent with the educational goals of the community. Thorough knowledge of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) policies and procedures, the MCPS elementary school curriculum, and state and federal regulations and laws. Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, organizational patterns, school operations, and pupil services. Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance and good morale. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent human relations skills. Education, Training, and Experience
Masters degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in supervision, educational administration, elementary school curriculum, or a closely related field. Five years of successful teaching experience (at least one year in MCPS). Three years of school-based leadership experience (e.g., assistant school administrator or central services administrator/central services instructional specialist). Evidence in resume. Successful completion of Observation and Analysis of Teaching I (preferred) and II (required prior to or during the first year). Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered. Certificate/License: Meets Maryland certification requirements for Administrator I or elementary or special education principal and supervisor.
