Medical Science Liaison, Cardiovascular (Ohio) – Bristol Myers Squibb Location: Ohio, West Virginia Responsibilities
Develop and maintain relationships with academic and community research thought leaders, appropriate healthcare providers, and access stakeholders within a defined geography to answer scientific, unsolicited product, and HEOR related questions. Interact through 1:1, group presentations, or remote formats. Present scientific information accurately and compliantly; respond to questions while adhering to local procedures, ethical and legal guidelines. Continuously assess the medical landscape by engaging with TLs/HCPs/Access Stakeholders to understand needs, knowledge of treatment strategies, products, unmet medical needs, clinical trials, HEOR concepts, and the competitive landscape; prepare to address informational needs. Identify opportunities to partner with HCPs on disease-state initiatives, collaborative research projects, and investigator-sponsored research aligned with BMS objectives. Attend medical congresses and local/regional meetings; collect and communicate meaningful medical insights to support strategy development and business decisions. Contribute to the Medical Plan
Develop geography-specific Field Medical and TL interaction plans based on therapeutic area objectives and TL needs. Adopt an institution/account planning approach and contribute to cross-functional plans. Contribute to development and delivery of scientifically meaningful medical programs/projects aligned with local Medical and Field Medical plans. Provide Medical Support
Establish a customer-centric, compliant collaboration with cross-matrix field teams within the assigned geography. Provide required medical/scientific area training and deliver key scientific updates to internal stakeholders (e.g., Commercial, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Legal, HEOR, Value Access & Payment). Provide scientific support at promotional meetings by presenting data, evaluating speakers, and supporting BMS-contracted speakers where applicable. Participate in assigned Congress activities. Support Clinical Trial Activities
Support interventional and non-interventional studies (NIR) to facilitate patient recruitment and discussions on safe and effective use of BMS investigational products; as defined by study scope and in coordination with Home Office Medical and Global Development Operations (GDO). Provide recommendations on study and site feasibilities based on field knowledge and contacts with potential investigators. Support HCPs in ISR submission and execution processes and study follow-up as agreed with home office medical and GDO. Ensure understanding and application of BMS Pharmacovigilance procedures by investigators; alert BMS personnel to identified adverse events. Actively support CRO-sponsored studies as defined by the study scope. Qualifications & Experience
Required Experience
MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, NP with experience in a specific disease area or with broad medical/pharmaceutical background. Knowledge Desired
Disease area knowledge and understanding of scientific publications; knowledge of clinical trial design and process; knowledge of the national healthcare and access environment; HEOR core concepts; excellent English language skills (spoken and written). Experience Desired
Minimum 2 years in a clinical and/or pharmaceutical environment; prior MSL experience; ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication and presentation skills; ability to translate complex data into understandable insights; ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships with TLs, scientists and healthcare professionals; rapid learning of new subject areas; demonstration of BMS values. Essential Qualification
Ability to drive a company-provided car; must be able to drive, maintain ethics and a safe driving history. Travel
Travel is required. This is field-based; the MSL will live in the territory they manage or within 50 miles of the territory borders. Time will be spent in the field with external customers; additional requirements may apply based on territory and team needs. Compensation & Benefits (Overview)
Compensation range for this role: US$161,250 – US$195,401 (field-based position in the United States). Final pay based on experience; additional incentive cash and stock may be available depending on eligibility.
