Southeast Ventura County YMCA Location: Simi Valley YMCA - Simi Valley, CA Responsibilities
Schedules, onboards, and supervises Aquatic Staff (lifeguards, swim teachers, swim team coaches, and water exercise instructors, etc.) so that pools are properly guarded at all times and that classes/team practices are conducted in accordance with the YMCA of the USA curriculum and best practices. Monitors aquatic program and makes recommendations on equipment and supply purchases. Conducts aquatic staff development meetings at least once per month to review emergency action plans, best aquatic safety practices, and best YMCA swim instruction practices. Consistently observes aquatic staff performance and conducts both announced and unannounced rescue and emergency drills to ensure a highly responsive and prepared aquatic staff. Maintains constant compliance with all laws, regulations, and YMCA policies, especially staff certification requirements, child labor laws, and environmental health regulations related to pool sanitation and safety. Works cooperatively with the property manager and maintenance staff to identify, communicate, and initiate both preventative and corrective maintenance work as early as possible. Speaks and listens to parents, participants, members, staff, and prospective staff to keep them informed of YMCA opportunities and issues and resolve problems tactfully and diplomatically. Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other branches and association directors and actively participates in management meetings, committees, and task forces as part of a competent and cohesive management team. Builds authentic relationships with members and encourages them to build relationships with each other as part of the YMCA movement. Participates in scheduled staff meetings and training events as required. Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary. Qualifications
CPR, FIRST AID, AED, and Lifeguarding certified through a nationally recognized sanctioning organization. Must complete all online trainings before hire, which will be compensated for accordingly. Minimum two years of experience supervising aquatics staff and facilities. Basic supervisory or administrative skills. Knowledge of principles of aquatic leadership. Knowledge of principles of lifeguarding. Knowledge of principles of progressive swim instruction. Supervisory skills required to oversee the activities of program department staff under supervision and the ability to enlist the collaboration of other staff when needed. Ability to communicate effectively to members, staff, and the community at large. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds. Must be available evenings and weekends. Criminal records clearance. Salary
$20.50 - $25.50 per hour Seniorities
