Summary
The Vice President of Development will design and implement a comprehensive strategy for meeting and exceeding the board approved budget by developing key external relationships, creating internal partnerships, cultivating individual and corporate support, and establishing an infrastructure for growth. The VP of Development will serve as part of the Senior Management Team, collaborating with all departments to achieve organizational goals. In addition, the VP of Development will work closely with the board of directors and other key leadership volunteers to drive income expansion. Salary starting at $170,000, with a full health & welfare benefit package Responsibilities
Create and drive a multi-channel income development program to achieve aggressive organizational growth in income, connections, and awareness Solidify a foundation of major donor cultivation, in support of a multi-level plan to further engage and elevate individual donors Pursue novel and unexplored opportunities for collaboration and income growth Conceptualize and implement a comprehensive and effective direct marketing program utilizing a multi-channel approach Oversee and continue to implement a comprehensive and effective major gifts program Leverage Special Events to increase income, expand corporate relationships, and bridge participants to further engagement Create a high performing and effective team by coaching, modeling, and inspiring the Development staff to ensure achievement of fundraising goals Support the Development staff through active mentoring, discussion of professional development plans, and career planning activities Create and maintain a culture of collaboration, respect, and support within the Development department as well as between departments to foster organizational success Collaborate with the CEO and Senior Management Team to develop and implement MSAA’s financial strategy, including developing the annual budget, and providing monthly updates in support of financial reporting and reconciliation Qualifications
7-10 years+ of development leadership experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources) Able to travel nationally, up to 25%, with convenient access to a major airport Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including superior diplomatic communication skills and experience and skills in copy editing Ability to engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships Professional, collaborative style, with the ability to work independently and as an active team player, engaging productively with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside MSAA Flexible and adaptable style; a resourceful leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and timelines Skilled at leveraging Salesforce and other software in support of Development operations Strong understanding of nonprofit financial reporting and budgeting Ability to handle complex situations with poise and professionalism Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan High energy and passion for MSAA’s mission is essential
